In Genesis 49:22-26 ( about 1746 B.C. ), Jacob gave
Joseph a special blessing and promised him that his
descendants would be many, would be “separated
from his brethren [ the other tribes of Israel ],”
would “run over the wall [ ocean ],” and would be at
the “ utmost bound of the everlasting hills.”

When Jacob blessed Joseph ‛s son, Ephraim in Genesis 48:19, he promised that Ephraim ‛s “ seed shall become a multitude of nations.”

  About 400 years later ( about 1341 B.C. ), in Deuteronomy
33:13-17, Moses blessed the tribe of Joseph. The blessings
promised included “ the chief things of the ancient
mountains ” and “ the precious things of the lasting hills.”

Putting the prophecies of Jacob and Moses together, we find Joseph ‛s descendants would be:

1. Separated from the other tribes
2. Over the ocean
3. A multitude of nations
4. Many
5. Blessed in the ancient mountains and everlasting hills
