Now, let us discuss the second group of
people : the Nephites. My pages tell of a
Prophet named Lehi who was commanded by
the Lord to leave Jerusalem around the year
600 B.C. Lehi and his family traveled in the
wilderness for 8 years before building a
ship to take them to a “ Land of Promise.”

Lehi ‛s son, Nephi, was the first Prophet Historian to write in My pages. He gives an
account of their trek from Jerusalem to the Indian Ocean, which they called Irreantum.
Just a few years ago, George Potter and Richard Wellington, two LDS members living in the Middle East, used Nephi ‛s account to retrace the steps they took to the sea.*

  This must be
the “ Most Fertile
Parts ” Nephi wrote
about.
