Joseph could not guess these details. As Jeff Lindsay has written, “ If Joseph or
anyone else had made up the story, it would have been important to be as vague as
possible . . . .” Instead, we read detail after detail that are still present today.
 
  The only thing Nephi forgot
to do was post signs and leave
bread crumbs on his way.
 
     
  Enough of this Old

  Alright, J.B. Lehi ‛s party crossed the ocean we now call the Pacific, landing ( as near
as we can tell ) somewhere on the southwestern coast of Central America (see 1st Nephi 18:22-23). Evidence of their presence in the New World has been discovered.
 

* Of the 81 pieces of evidence discovered by Wellington and Potter, 26 point to the
modern-day city of Salalah as the port of departure for Lehi and his party.
