I still think that‛s
enough evidence
for modern DNA
scientists.

There is one more tangle in the branches of this family tree. When the
European conquerors came to the New World, they brought more than
their religion and culture. They brought diseases against which the
natives had no defences. For instance, small pox destroyed an estimated
25% of the Aztec population, and between 60 to 90% of the Incas.

  Aztec drawing of the
effects of small pox.

As one researcher stated, “ This population reduction has forever altered the
genetics of the surviving groups, thus complicating any attempts at reconstructing the pre-Columbian genetic structure of most New World groups.”

These are just three of the roadblocks that
stand in the way of scientists following my trail.

DNA research has come a long way
in a short time, but, like all scientific
research, it requires reliable input in
order to produce reliable results.

  Just like this helicopter.
It requires
reliable parts if you
want reliable results.

  And this sandwich. It
requires fresh ingredients
if you want reliable results.
