That ‛s a good question ! Members of the Church have been experiencing such opposition from the beginning. What did Christ do that caused the Jews, His own people, to have such a strong compulsion to crucify Him : He who was their Savior ; He who had done no harm ; He who had such a great impact for good on the world ? Satan has always opposed the Lord ‛s work, especially Eternal Truths revealed through additional Scriptures brought forth by Living Prophets.
Another reason for the opposition is the rapid growth of the Church. Often other churches feel threatened because most of the converts come from other Christian faiths. As of 2004 The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints had over Twelve Million members comprising 26,084 congregations.1

According to the current growth rate, “ Latter-day Saints could number 265 Million worldwide by 2080, second only to Roman Catholics among Christian bodies.” 2 This growth is directly attributed to personal, sincere prayer through which people of all nationalities receive their own testimonies of My Truthfulness.
