God commands these men to write the Truths of the Gospel that He reveals to them in sacred books called Scriptures. These Scriptures give a spiritual history of God ‛s dealings and teachings with His people, as well as prophecies of future
important events for the benefit and guidance
of later generations.

But I want to include my ideas !

  Prophets also supervise the creation,
reproduction, and translation of the
Scriptures. This “ Prophetic Supervision ”
ensures that when the Scriptures are
copied (or translated into another language), the changes, choice of words,
and adjustments, convey the exact meaning
God intended and are not polluted
by man ‛s views and interpretations.
( Isaiah 55:8-9 ; 2nd Peter 1:20-21)

When people hear the Prophets or read their words in the Scriptures, God confirms the Truth of the Prophet ‛s words by the Witness of the Holy Ghost ( see page 377 ). When the people know the Truth by the Power of the Holy Ghost, God expects them to obey His commandments and follow His word as given by the Living Prophets and Apostles. “. . . whether by Mine [ God’s ] own voice or by the voice of My servants [ Prophets ], it is the same. ” ( D&C 1:38 ; Amos 3:7-8 ) *
