This confusion was not intended or sponsored by Christ. In 1st Cor. 1:10, Paul stated his desire :

“. . . that there be no divisions among you ; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.”
Paul went on to say in 1st Cor. 14:33 that God is not the author of contention, confusion, or misleading, incomplete information.

Christ counseled
in 3rd Nephi 11:
8-30 that . . .

“. . . there shall be no disputations among you . . . concerning the points of My doctrine . . .
the spirit of contention is not of Me, but is of the devil . . . Behold this is not My doctrine . . .
but this is My doctrine, that such things should be done away.”

And, to Joseph Smith, Christ said in Doctrine & Covenants 10:63
“. . . Satan doth stir up the hearts of the people to contention concerning the points of My doctrine ; and in these things they do err, for they do wrest the Scriptures and do not understand them.”
As the Apostle Paul stated in
2nd Timothy 3:7,

  “Ever learning, and never
able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
I love it !
