4) Professor Robert J. Matthews said, “ The Book of Mormon is not an ‘ intellectual treatise. ‛ It does not attempt to win, advocated by logic or reason. The Book of Mormon is testimony from those who experienced the things of the soul. It speaks to the heart and the spirit.” 1  
     
You would think that statements
like these would make people excited to read and ponder My contents. Yet
instead, opposition is continually
directed towards Me.
 
     
  5) The Apostle Bruce R. McConkie indicated that people generally can either accept or reject the Bible without severely reacting towards other people. Their differences are usually intellectual rather than emotional.

“ But upon disbelieving the Book of Mormon, they find themselves compelled to arise in wrath, and defame the Nephite record. Belief in the Book of Mormon presupposes the acceptance of Joseph Smith as a true Prophet [of God] as well as [the need for] membership in The Church [of Jesus Christ] organized by Him . . . therefore, they would have to admit that they had no authority [from God] to have their own churches [and] to teach their own private interpretation of the Bible teachings.” 2  
    They do not desire to receive any additional knowledge or help, even from God Himself.
